Federal budget office to require cloud computing planning
December 10, 2009
The federal government's Office of Management and Budget will start requiring agencies that do not employ cloud computing solutions to start explaining why before they receive funds from the fiscal 2012 budget.
This new language comes after OMB called for new rules requiring government agencies to launch a series of cloud computing projects in 2010 using money from the E-Government Fund. A House version of the OMB plan would set aside $33 million for the new projects, while the Senate version would use $35 million.
